![]() There are some areas where the reverence holds though. But there was a time when snakes were held in the highest regard. As cultures evolve things tend to shift, and in modern day Japan snakes do not have the same universal reverence they had at one point. Turns out, in Japan snakes in general, not just the Albino Rat Snakes are revered as either messengers of deities or deities themselves. From Japanese Wikipedia – The Albino Japanese Rat Snake Not too far from our colossal serpent in Ashina. In Iwakuni, the albino snakes are revered as messengers of deities and the snakes themselves are considered guardians of mountains and rivers. The albino variant is located in a place named Iwakuni. Specifically, an Albino Rat Snake, a variant of the Japanese Rat Snake. This revealed that 白蛇 is in fact the name of a snake that inhabits Japan. ![]() But, in an attempt to get a more exact picture I ran 白蛇 through a Japanese dictionary. The Great Serpent is both a white snake and a long-lived guardian of Ashina – everything checks out so far. In addition, a ぬしis a creature that is one of long life, great power and has control over an area. The ぬし(nushi) translates as master and can double up as guardian spirit. There is the character for white, and the character for snake. The Great Serpent in Japanese is ぬしの白蛇(はくじゃ・しろへび ― hakuja・shirohebi)which looks like white snake. That was fine – I could relocate the briefcase – I at least knew the briefcase could survive the fall, eliminating the stair problem. An NPC took it somewhere to put to the side. The briefcase hurtled through the air, and landed, and stayed intact. Just how sturdy is this briefcase? Why not try flinging it off the edge? Worse thing that could happen is the mission fails. The other side faces dry land, and dry land that is on the way to the exit point. I was running through ideas in my head, wandering around on the balcony and I happened to look down. Guards could be killed along the way but that will tank the mission score and lead to an incredible mess – probably ending with Agent 47’s death. What to do? The briefcase can be thrown but constantly throwing a briefcase will take time and will probably cause a degree of suspicion. Between this point and the exit point, there are more than a few sets of stairs. ![]() The escalation starts at the highest point of the level. The other stipulation is that the briefcase can no longer be carried on stairs. Hitman lets the agency Agent 47 works for to place things on the map to be retrieved. However, two new stipulations have been added. The briefcase remains the same, as does the exit point. Agent 47 has to go a little out of his way, but he is more than capable of seeing this through. Another high-ranking member of the Ark Society. The second stage of the escalation has a second target to assassinate. All in all, that is a pretty simple task. The mission starts in the Penthouse section of the map, with Agent 47 disguised as an elite guard. In addition to this, he has to smuggle out a briefcase to a specific exit. Taking place on the Isle of Sgail, Agent 47 is tasked with assassinating a high-ranking member of the Ark Society. To give an example, let’s take the Quimby Protocol. With each completion, the mission has to be approached with new ways of thinking and problem solving. Each escalation has three stages, with the stipulations and challenges escalating with each completion. Sometimes these targets have stipulations (kill with a pistol for example). Some missions have customised loadouts, others are more straightlaced. Taking place on the maps of Hitman 2, the escalations have Agent 47 hunting different targets. But there are some missions where I completed all of the story missions and in an effort to try new things I brought myself to try out the escalations. I ignored these for a good while because I do like to do main game content first and I have a general fear of new things. There are a lot of map specific tasks to complete.Īnd then there are the escalations. I still have story missions left to accomplish. In addition, exhausting all the things I can do in Hitman 2 is proving a daunting task. Not their fault, but that is just how it is. I would be playing other games but they have the unfortunate distinction of not being Hitman 2.
